External Hosting Options
Depending on your needs, there are several options for hosting your website with selected vendors. Please contact your local IT staff to discuss hosting needs.
Most websites will use a content management system to help you manage your content, and the most popular system is WordPress. If you cannot use sites.nd.edu to develop your WordPress site, you may purchase an account with WPEngine. They specialize in WordPress hosting, offer 24/7 support, and are approved for University websites.
Who will create the website?
Conductor is the University’s proprietary content management system (CMS) and hosts the University’s highest profile websites. Intended for colleges and schools, departments, administration, offices, institutes, and centers, the Marketing Communications team works with campus communicators to establish tailored strategy, design and development for each project. Training and support are provided by the Web Team, and hosting is provided by the University.
Utilizing Wordpress, the Marketing Communications Web Team offers straightforward, templated websites and blogs for the do-it-yourself-er. Intended for faculty, students, and groups with simple requirements, these sites are provided with University branded themes and templates, and are offered at no cost to the user. Hosting is provided by the University, but no custom design or development is currently offered on campus. The Office of Information Technologies offers basic Wordpress training for users that prefer this avenue.
