Mobile Devices

Smartphones and Mobile Devices

The OIT provides basic support for current model (generally 2 years old or newer) smartphones and other mobile devices to enable users to connect to the ND wireless network, to access ND Google email and calendaring services, and any central IT service designed for mobile devices. For additional support, please contact your cell phone carrier, or the provider of the software application.

The OIT generally recommends that all mobile devices be upgraded to the most recent version of the vendor-provided operation system to allow for improved performance, security and functionality.

ND Mobile

The ND Mobile application is available via the iOS App Store, Google Play, and through any web browser at http://m.nd.edu.

Installing the Mobile App

  • Open the App Store / Google Play
  • Tap in the search box and type “notre dame mobile”
  • Select the ND Mobile app published by the University of Notre Dame du Lac
  • Click the “Install” button; you may be asked to enter your App Store or Google Play account password.

If you encounter errors during installation, please contact the OIT Help Desk. By default, the app is set to the “Welcome to ND” edition. View the feature list below to determine the best edition for you.

Adjust Default Font Size

Within the ND Mobile app, scroll to the bottom of the home screen and tap “Settings”. Select the desired font size under the “Font size” section. The app will return home once the change is made.

To adjust the default font size in a web browser, tap or click the menu in the upper right and select “Settings” at the bottom of the menu. Select the desired font size and click the Notre Dame logo to return home.

Change the Web Display Format

If visiting the ND Mobile app through a web browser, you can select optimized format for your device. To change the display format, tap or click the menu in the upper right and select “Settings” at the bottom of the menu. Select the display format that you would prefer.

  • Automatic – Detects the device and adjusts format to match the device
  • Phone – Optimal display format for touchscreen smartphones and small tablets
  • Tablet – Best viewed on full-size tablets including the iPad
  • Desktop – View the app as you would see it on a desktop computer
  • Text Only – Limits the images and styles for feature phone and screen reader compatibility

Change the Edition

  • Launch the ND Mobile app or visit http://m.nd.edu
  • iPhone/Android Phone App: Scroll to the bottom of the screen
  • Android Tablet, Other Smartphone or Web Browser: Select the menu in the upper right and scroll to the bottom of the menu
  • Tap the “My Edition” button that shows your current edition (Default: “Welcome to ND”)
  • Select the new edition

After setting the edition, the app remembers the setting and opens to that edition each time you open it. Web browsers do not cache the edition, but you can bookmark the edition once changed.
