Mobile Printing for PrintND

How to Print from Apple Mobile Devices

These instructions require iPhones or iPads with iOS9 or better.

From these devices, you can use Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Box to upload documents to be printed at any PrintND printer. Remember, you must have the application installed on your device. Even if the document is in your Google Drive, you will need to make sure that you have Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Google Slides installed on your device from the App Store.

  1. Open the app that contains the document that you want to print.
  2. Select the document that you want to print.
  3. Tap the three vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner: 


  4. Tap Share & Export.
  5. Tap Send a Copy.
  6. Choose the format you want the document in.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. In the From: field select your Notre Dame email account or another preferred email address.
  9. In the To: field enter and touch the arrow symbol to send.
  10. If this is the first time you are using Mobile Print, go to your Inbox. 
  11. You will see a message from asking your to click/touch to register your email address. You only have to do this once.
    1. The Pharos Print Center screen will appear.
    2. Login with your NetID and password.
    3. Tap OK
  12. You will recieve another email from, informing you that your document is ready to be printed. You do not have to wait for this message, you can go immediately and print your document. This is just an informational message.
  13. Go to a PrintND printer and swipe your card or login and you will see your job ready to be released for printing.

NOTE: For subsequent Mobile Print jobs, once you email with your job, it can be released. You do not need to open Print Center each time.

How to print from Android

In order to utilize the emailing capability of our email service, Pharos, you must ensure that you have the following applications installed on your device: Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google PDF Viewer and any of the cloud storage apps you will email from (ex. Google Drive, Box, etc.)

Registering your email address

If your are sending jobs from your Notre Dame email address, you should not have to register your email address with Pharos. If you want to send emails to Pharos from a different email account, you will have to register it with Pharos. Each email address only needs to be registered one time. 

  1. Open the Gmail application
  2. Double-check that you are sending the email from the address that you want to register
  3. Type into the To: field.
  4. Send the email. You don't need to put anything in the subject or body of the message. 
  5. will send you an email in response, asking you to complete your email registration
  6. Follow the instructionw within the email to complete registration. 
  7. Once complete, you will be redirected to My Print Center. Input your NetID and password. A popup will appear, stating that your email address has been successfully registered.
  8. That email address is not registered with Pharos. You can now exit the page and continue on to the next step.

Send a File From Google Drive

  1. Open Google Drive.
  2. Open the file that you would like to print.
  3. In the top right corner, tap the three vertical dots:


  4. Tap Share & Export
  5. Tap Send a copy and select your desired format.
  6. When prompted what application to share with, choose Gmail
  7. In the To: field, enter and send the email.
    1. If you would like to edit your print options before printing, go to
    2. Log in with your NetID and password
    3. Change any options you wish
  8. Go to a PrintND printer and release your job.

Sending a file from Box

  1. Open Box
  2. Open the file that you would like to print
  3. In the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, tap:


  4. Tap Open with other app. The file will now open in the corresponding Google Application
  5. In the top right corner, tap: 


  6. Tap Share & Export 
  7. Tap Send a copy and select Gmail 
  8. In the From: field, select your Notre Dame email, or another email that you've registered with Pharos.
  9. In the To: field, enter and send the email
    1. If you would like to edit your print options before printing, go to
    2. Log in with your NetID and password
    3. Change any options you choose
  10. Go to a PrintND printer and release your job

How to print from Windows

  1. Login to your Notre Dame Google Drive.
  2. Bring up the document that you want to print.
  3. Download then Open.
  4. Touch the --- symbol at the bottom right-hand corner.
  5. Share
  6. Google Mail
  7. Then send to

NOTE: If you have another email account that you use, you can do the above, select your other email account. It will also send an email to that account, asking you to register the email address and then login to Print Center to verify. You only have to do this once for every email account that you want to use.

NOTE: For subsequent Mobile Print jobs, once you email with your job, it can be released. You do not need to open PrintCenter each time.

My Print Center Instructions

Logging into My Print Center

  1. Go to
  2. Enter your NetID and password
  3. Click Login

Basic Functions of My Print Center

  • Any current jobs in your queue will appear under your job list
  • The bottom left corner of the screen shows your current funds balance
  • To view prior activity on your account, click on the Activity tab
  • To delete a print job from your queue, select the print job and select delete. 

Uploading a Document

  1. Go to My Printing
  2. Click Job List 
  3. Click Upload
  4. Select the document you choose to upload. (NOTE: My Print Center only supports Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF, Images, text, and Visio file types)
  5. To preview the job that was uploaded, click on the print preview button. (Print preview only works for files that were uploaded or emailed to My Print Center. Documents sent to the queue via the traditional print method will not show a preview.)
  6. To edit the print options of a file, choose your options in the bottom right corner. Print options can only be editied for fiels that were uploaded via My Print Center, or emailed to

Why isn’t my document printing?

There are a few restrictions on what can currently print from our Mobile Printing application; please make sure that the file type is supported (.doc, .docx, .gif, .jpg .ods, .odt,, .pdf, .png, .ppt, .pptx, .rtf, .tiff, .txt, .xls, .xlsx), and that the file you are uploading is less than 25MB.

Do I need to install any software to use Mobile Printing?

No, you do not need to install any software to use Mobile Printing, but a browser is required on your device.

Do I need to be on the VPN to use Mobile Printing?

No, you do not need to be on the VPN to print; you can print from any cellular service or wireless network, even off campus!

How long will my document be in my print queue?

Your document will remain in queue for 6 hours, after which it will be removed from the queue.

Can I print more than one file at a time?

No; when using your smartphone to email a job to the print queue only one file can be selected at a time.

Why hasn’t my document shown up in the print queue?

Some larger documents (such as 40 slide Powerpoint presentations) may take longer to arrive at the printer.  DO NOT send it multiple times to the printer, as it will show up within 5 minutes.

Why can’t I print the URL or web page I’ve chosen?

The Mobile Printing app does not print .html files, but you can select .pdf files that are linked to on the internet.

Why didn't my image print out correctly?

Print quality of graphics may vary when printing from  If your image does not print properly, please print it out using the PrintND driver or a computer lab workstation.
