Jabber

Cisco Jabber for OS XCisco Jabber offers secure and effective collaboration with Notre Dame campus contacts. Cisco Jabber brings together presence, voice, instant messaging, conferencing and visual voicemail all into a single client.

Using Cisco Jabber you can:

  • Share documents and collaborate with audio and web conferencing
  • Communicate with campus contacts fast
  • Limits the cost of travel and phone charges by using a single tool for all modes of electronic communication

 

Request Cisco Jabber

Before you can use Cisco Jabber, you must request that VoIP services are configured for the feature. The OIT Help Desk will configure the functionality after you have completed and submitted the VoIP Feature Request Form for Jabber. The configuration process may take up to two business days to complete. The OIT Help Desk will notify you when Jabber is ready for you to use.

Download and Install Cisco Jabber

Jabber is available at our Software Downloads site. Installing the program takes just a few minutes, and the ND VoIP settings will be preconfigured for you. You will be prompted for your NetID and password during the setup process. 

NOTE: Due to the recent voip upgrade, you will need to change the server name in Jabber.

  • New: uc-imp-pub-p.voip.nd.edu

Signing into Jabber for the first time

Windows

  • Select advanced settings
  • Choose Cisco IM & Presence
  • Choose Use the following server
  • Enter uc-imp-pub-p.voip.nd.edu
  • Click Save
  • Enter Netid and Password
  • Sign in (accept certificates if prompted)

OS X

  • Select advanced settings
  • Choose Cisco IM & Presence
  • Choose Use the following server
  • Enter uc-imp-pub-p.voip.nd.edu
  • Click Save
  • Enter Netid and Password
  • Sign in (accept certificates if prompted)

Mobile

These instructions are similar for both iOS and Android

  • Download the app from the App store
  • At the log in screen select advanced settings

  • Turn off connect to server automatically

  • Click Cisco IM and Presence
  • Enter uc-imp-pub-p.voip.nd.edu in the server information
  • Enter your netid@nd.edu and password

  • Click sign in
  • From the menu on the top you will see the features available
  • You can:
    • access your voicemail
    • Chat
    • Make calls through your desk phone
    • Access directory and  contacts
